I started making my own baby leggings because they had way too much variability when I bought them at the store. From one brand to the next, I couldn’t rely on them to fit my daughter properly. Also, the cloth diapers my daughter was in at the time added a little bit more bulk in the seat. This meant her proportions were a bit different than what the store leggings were made for. Making them myself meant I was able to customize them to be plain colors, pattern colors, or whatever I wanted her wardrobe to be.
Care
To take care of baby leggings, a simple wash and dry routine is fine. In my experience, the small sizes only last three months anyway before they are outgrown, so handling them however other laundry is handled should be perfectly fine.
Design options
There are a lot of design options here. Depending on what knit fabrics are available, they can be made in any design or color. I also like the idea of a half-and-half style, with one color or design on one side and another color or design on the other side. However, in my experience, these leggings get grown out of so quickly that more elaborate designs would probably be better suited for older children who outgrow their clothing at a slower rate.
